About Dr. Letsinger

I love being a physician.

There's nothing quite like solving a real medical puzzle, working closely with a patient for decades, or knowing you played a role in helping someone change their life. Still, a career in medicine asks a lot of you, and once you add a family or outside interests, it can be tough to balance.

I never thought I was burning out. I was just working hard, managing a lot, until I found myself thinking, “I love my profession, but I hate my job.” I was spending evenings and weekends catching up on charting and inbox work, at the expense of my family, my exercise, my sleep. I found myself snapping at people I loved and realized that though I once considered myself pretty nice and even funny, I was neither anymore. I didn't want my kids to remember me like that.

If anything here sounds familiar, you're not alone, and you don't have to wait for the medical system to change. You can take control of your life and decide how you want to work within the system we have right now. I work with physicians at every stage: newer physicians navigating the shift into becoming an attending, young parents adding this wonderful and demanding new role to an already busy life, physicians who are feeling trapped or are quietly wondering if this is all there is, and physicians who already know there's more ahead and are ready to lead, innovate, or chase something that's been waiting for its turn.

It's an honor to have trained specifically to coach physicians. My goal is to help you build real longevity in your career, starting with getting clear on what you want next.

Like you, I've studied and worked at many institutions: UCLA, UC Davis School of Medicine, Pennsylvania Hospital / U Penn Dept of Internal Medicine, UC San Francisco Dept of Dermatology, and Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Today, I'm a dermatologist with more than 25 years in clinical practice and a private physician coach. I look forward to working with you.
